I Hate Paypal

I had used PayPal 106 times…then my 107th experience almost cost me $375.00.

I sold an item through ebay and had it hand delivered to the buyer after I received payment from PayPal. I wrote out a delivery confirmation/receipt and had the buyer sign it upon receiving the item.

About 75 days later, I received an email from paypal. Paypal indicated that my account was in dispute, the purchaser’s credit card company had received a complaint that it was a fraudulent/unauthorized charge.

I called PayPal, flipping out, after expecting them to protect me from being ripped off, as the buyer was a VERIFIED PayPal user.

This is the explanation I received from the paypal rep “It’s like riding in a car, you have to put your seat belt on to be protected. You put the belt on, but you (I) hadn’t buckled it” The rep went on to say, if I had sent the item through UPS, USPS, Fed Ex, etc. who would have provided a tracking number or delivery confirmation, I would have been protected, i.e. buckled the seat belt. But because I had a signed written receipt it is a civil matter….WTF?

So, I’m freaking out. Thinking, if this is FRAUD I can’t go after the person who didn’t authorize the transaction. I have no recourse.

Fortunately, I didn’t give up. I Googled the buyer’s name, and there it was, a picture of the guy’s face, right there on facebook. The very same face, my husband delivered the item to!

My husband was the actual delivery man of the ebay item so the buyer had never seen me before; I added him as a friend on facebook and He Accepted! I quickly printed all of his info, before he had a chance to realize who I was.

I had his face, name, email address, phone numbers identifying this person as being the purchaser. My husband was able to easily identify this person, from all of his profile photos, as being the same person who had accepted, received and signed for the ebay item’s delivery. I was well armed with all the necessary proof that I would need if this became a civil matter.

However, I AM THROUGH WITH PAYPAL….What kind of seller protection do they offer??? I was pissed off, thinking I was going to have to be out $375.00 OR Sue someone – all because PayPal said I didn’t buckle my seatbelt???

Paypal had it all wrong! This was not fraud, or an unauthorized credit card transaction. This guy was trying to get out of paying $375 for an item that he received. Paypal was going to allow this guy to rip me off!

Paypal does not protect the seller. Paypal never even contacted the buyer. The phone number Paypal had on file had been disconnected. I tried to share the updated information that I had attained, to substantiate my case; however, Paypal refused to accept it.

To bad, so sad. They didn’t want anything to do with it. It wasn’t Paypal’s concern. Paypal told me “as a courtesy” by them, they had already submitted a dispute with the credit card company.

WHAT WAS PAYPAL DISPUTING? They had nothing to defend me with other than a few measley words “The seller doesn’t agree with the charge back”. How’s that going to get my money back???

The point – I HATE PAYPAL!! They are a piece of bleep! Useless and pointless.

I phoned, the buyer and was lucky enough to have him restore my account after threatening to take him to court…(this actually took several emails and phone calls to him).

In the end, he did indeed rectify the problem.

When contacting the credit card company that he used, regarding the dispute – they tell me that their business is with Paypal and not with me. So what information was paypal protecting me? WHAT THE “F” IS THE USE OF PAYPAL?

Thank You social Networking! SCREW PAYPAL!

BTW – My buyer used American Express
