One of the first things that you’ll want to do when visiting or participating in the Winter Olympics 2010 Vancouver Games is come to America!

Go ahead and cross the border! Coming in at the Peace Arch Crossing will put you into the small quaint town of Blaine, Washington.

The small mom & pop type shops offers a micro assortment of eateries and shops, but it is an easy quick stop into the USA. While you pretty much remain in eye contact with the border, it does offer you the ability to be able to say “been there, done that” if you don’t have the means and/or time to travel far.

Ferndale, is approximately another 10 miles South on I-5.

You will want to get off on the Main Street Exit and turn left to head into Downtown Ferndale! If you’re able to catch the owner of Treasure Hunt, Mike Wasisco, a tall handsome man with a shaved head, he can give you a clue on what to do in the area.

Treasure Hunt is located at 2009 Main Street, Ferndale, WA. Phone number is 360-384-3739

Mikes an amiable character who I believe you will enjoy conversing with. He can give you some first hand knowledge of where the folks who’ve spent most of their lives there do for entertainment. And stay on a froogle budget.

The first thing you’ll notice is that to get to Treasure Hunt, approximately 1 mile from I-5 and making a left, there is the Ferndale Visitor’s Information Center there. Just as you come off the freeway over pass. There on the right.

You’ll also see the Dairy Queen, where you might want to stop for a Blizzard. Or you could drive a few yards further and pull into the Sonic Drive-Thru on the left. Further up you’ll be going under the railroad which passes overhead and then, you’ll have an instant view of the Main Street Bridge and be able to cross the Nooksack River.

Just across the bridge is our lovely River Walk Park, which is to your right.

If you get to the light at the corner just beyond the bridge, you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of the wall mural that’s painted with the perception that you are driving a stagecoach.

You might as well pull over in that area because, directly across the street at 2009 Main Street you will find the best deals in Whatcom County at Treasure Hunt.

This is that place where the proprietor is Mike Wasisco. Tell him Janet sent you and told you to demand that he give you a great deal :)
