Clearwire “Clear” ISP Review Part 2
The reason that I was typing this while I was on hold, was that, as I mentioned, I was really pretty upset. So, I wanted to do something to calm me down, instead of just becoming more angry.
Oh, so what was I calling them for that they put me on hold?
Well, last week, like I said, I DID cancel the Voip. And then, while I was doing that, my Clearwire modem lost signal. I was not happy, it was a Friday night and I was worried that I’d be without internet for the weekend!
The tech told me that he would send me out a new modem. That was fine, but I decided that I was going to the local Clear office before they closed so that I could assure that I’d at least have an opportunity to have the internet for the weekend.
I changed clothes and was walking out the door into the pouring rain, and I decided to look at the modem and see if, by the off chance, that it had signal. YES!
During the next few days, I continued to have signal problems. I was frustrated, especially when I went to my computer at 8 a.m. and AGAIN, the signal was interrupted.
No problem, I’ll just call tech support. And what happens? I get a recording that tells me that tech support office doesn’t open until 9 a.m.!
I spent the next 55 minutes fuming over not being able to get online. I broke down and called Comcast. I was really just doing it to waste some time. I talked to the sales rep for a few minutes.
I looked at the computer clock, it was 9:00 a.m. – At 9:00 a.m. my internet came on.
I decided that was the last straw and I scheduled an appointment for the next day (that’s pretty fast to get a cable guy out, they must’ve thought I might change my mind).
8:00 a.m. the next morning the Comcast tech came out, hooked me up and I got on the phone and called Clear. And I told them “I quit!”
Now, what do I do with this stupid modem? (Oh, yea, never did get that modem that the tech had told me that was going to be sent out right away.)
I made it a point to ask the rep who was disconnecting my service. “Whatever you want to do with it. It’s yours.” she responded.
“It’s mine?” I wasn’t sure, maybe I did have to purchase it, or I got it on a promotion 2 years ago. “Are you sure?”
She explained to me that that’s what was coming up on her screen.
The next day, I’m online and the phone rings. It’s Clearwire. The woman is asking me if I still have the modem. Huh?
I asked her why, and she informed me that I needed to return it to them.
“You know, why don’t you go back and listen to the tapes that you make for quality assurance. I’m sure you know the time that I called to be disconnected and who took that order. SHE told me I own it! And if I wanted to, I could throw it away!”
“I’ve spent hours on the phone over the past week wasting my time with your company, and you’ve wasted enough of my time!”
I was getting ready to hang up the phone when she quickly asked me “Did you throw it away?”
“Yes! I threw it away, it was trash cluttering my house!” And I hung up on her.
No, I hadn’t really thrown it away. Actually, I still had the modem, because I was worried that something like this would happen.
The next day, I checked my bank account online. I was being charged $97 by Clear!!???!!!
THAT is where you came in. I got on the phone, screaming at the Clear representative when she told me that the charge was for the modem! I demanded to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold.
Well, now that I had my conversation, via skype, with a different Clear representative. I was apologized to AND given a confirmation code, as indication that the money would be returned to my bank account.
It took 24 hours for them to take the $97 out. It’s been 5 days, and my account still has not been credited.
